The rising fuel price has
pushed up the price of other consumer products. How will this affect the
society? Give your opinion. You should write at least 350 words.
Money is not everything, yet people still need money to
continue breathing peacefully in today’s era of materialism. People who have
silver spoon in their mouth can live in luxurious way without worrying about
money, but how about the poor people? Either you realize it or not, rising in
fuel price which has pushed up the price of consumer products really affect the
society namely, widening the gap between the rich and poor background social,
increasing vice activities and reducing the population trend in a long term.
First and foremost, the gap between
the rich and the poor will grow at the same pace as the economic growth. Hence,
the poor will continuously stay in a rich world so that the rich get richer and
the poor get poorer. To illustrate, the rising in the price items causes the
poor hardly to support all the needs of their family as they do not have enough
money. In a meantime, their daily expenditure automatically multiplies and they
will try to cut it as much as they can. Conversely, the rich will stay in a
luxurious life although the world experiences this alteration in the price
items. As a result, the growing inequality gap between them gets broadened in
most every developing country including Malaysia. Therefore we can conclude
that the poor region will remain poor if there is no organization from the
responsible parties that can help them to reduce their burden.
Next, rising of fuel price can
cause the basic necessities of consumers’ products will be more costly and lead
to increase in vice activities among irresponsible people. Producers will store
and hoard the items in a warehouse to further increase the price of products
from time to time. At that point, the basic essentials such as sugar, rice and
flour will be great in demand and by hook or by crook, consumers still have to
purchase the items although the price is higher than usual. Furthermore, news
today reported that, smuggling of these items prove that vice activities is on
the rise. For example, rise in sugar price causes the producers to reduce the
distribution of sugar as it cost more fuel to travel to and from the
supermarket. To solve it, the government had taken an initiative to fix 2kg of
sugar per person; somehow, the sugar is still running out of stock. In an overall
view, increase of fuel price had definitely caused more hardship to society
today.
Other than that, the demographic of
the society will be greatly affected. Nowadays, society is more aware of birth
control and family planning as to maintain financial stabilities and ensure a
cozy life and also cater all the needs like food, clothes, and education.
Hence, society will consciously decide not to have too many children since new
families with fewer children will surely spend less on basic necessities. Consequently,
the population will greatly incline which leads to reduction of workforce in
future. Moreover, Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad stated that in Vision 2020, in our
drive to move vigorously ahead nothing is more important then the development
of human resources. Therefore, the productivity and prosperity of our
country will be affected in future.
In conclusion, incline in consumer
products due to increase in fuel price has become an irony among the society.
Why don’t we turn a new leaf rather than keep discussing about this issue by
giving subsidy for each product because even the fuel price has risen, we are
still able to purchase the products as the same price as before; no need to
change the bar code, tag price or advertise the new price of products. Thus,
the government should consider other alternative to put a stop to this
matter.
